Wickenburg, AZ Desert Proposal

Oct 18, 2019

When I meet a couple for the very first time, I like to get to know them and hear their favorite memories together so I can understand what is important to them. This helps tremendously on a wedding day to determine what photos will be most important for the couple, and if they have any inside jokes, it’s easy for me to make sure those tributes are captured forever. Sometimes it’s a Star Wars cake topper, sometimes a hidden mickey or two, but in this case, it will be a bottle of Kyle’s famous homemade beer – the exact thing that brought the duo together.

As I sat across from Sarah and Kyle, I started asking some questions to get to know them. When I asked how they met, Sarah let Kyle take the lead this time and said this was actually her first time hearing him tell the story.

The couple met at a wedding, but not in the cliche, cheesy meeting at a wedding way. They were both in the bridal party for a mutual friend. Kyle had made a home-brew beer that he brought along for a little beer pong fun. Sarah tried a little bit of it and she liked it, so she decided she was going to keep it. Long story short, Kyle says they met because she stole his beer.

The first couple years of dating was spent long distance since Sarah lived in Las Vegas and Kyle lived here in Arizona. After she made the move to the valley another couple of years passed and Kyle decided it was time to finally pop the question.

First, he wanted to make sure the proposal was a complete surprise. He kept telling her the ring was on layaway so she wouldn’t suspect a thing. Since they are both the outdoorsy type, he decided to take her to the desert. They drove up to a dirt field in Wickenburg, where he pulled out a pair of binoculars so she could fully take in the surrounding views. When her eyes were covered, he got in position and told her to turn around. She spun and when she saw him, he was down on one knee asking her to be his wife.

Of course, she said yes and now they are planning their dream wedding at Mormon Lake where they will be celebrated by their family and friends. I am so excited for them to finally tie the knot and can’t wait to capture the beautiful day!
