The morning of your wedding: Details in the getting ready room

Jul 9, 2018

The morning of your wedding is going to fly by! While I know that your bridal party is so wonderfully handling anything that comes up on the morning of your wedding, I also know that you will have many thoughts in your head and many feelings in your heart that trying to think of last minute details might add some stress to your morning.

The first thing I do when I get to your suite (after hugging you, of course!) is start with detail shots. You know the ones—pretty shots of your invitations, rings, etc. What I have found is the best way to keep this stress free for you is to have things ready ahead of time. If you gather all the details early in the morning, you can enjoy getting pampered by your hair and makeup team while I snap away those Pinterest-worthy lay-flats.

Laying everything out ahead of time is the best way to make sure I get all the details you want and don’t forget anything important is for you. It will also make sure I have enough time to get all the shots we need and I don’t have to spend your precious photography hours running around and collecting rings from the groom’s suite (THIS MEANS MORE PHOTOS FOR YOU!). So, without further ado, here is a checklist of all the details to have gathered together when I arrive:

Bride’s getting ready room:

Invitations
Rings / Ring boxes
Your veil
Your shoes
Any hair pieces
Jewelry / Accessories
Garters
Perfume
Your bouquet
Any sentimental details (a charm from your grandmother, etc.)
Any other special details
Bride Tip: be sure to ask your florist for any extra flowers leftover from your bouquet. They will help personalize your detail shots.
