Golf Club Winter Wedding

Feb 11, 2020

Imagine anticipating something for 10 years… a trip, an accomplishment, a new chapter. In this particular case, the taste of an extremely valuable bottle of whiskey. For over 10 years, a Post It note rested on this treasured box as Paul waited in anticipation for the day his only daughter would get married. “Don’t Drink This. Saving for Jenna’s Wedding.”

When I first heard the story behind this savored bottle upon my arrival at Jenna & Alex’s wedding, I could already recognize that Jenna and her dad were extremely close. In fact, the first look with her father before the ceremony would set off a steady stream of tears behind my camera that would last throughout the day. Paul told us during this emotional reveal that his father had passed when he was 15 so he never got to see any of his kids get married. This made it especially meaningful for him to watch his baby girl marry the love of her life. It was after this moment he turned to his daughter, and with tears filling his eyes he said, “Jenna, you’re beautiful.”

In the moments I’ve spent with her, there is no doubt in my mind that Alex is her perfect complement in every way. Rarely have I seen this much excitement on a wedding day focused on the marriage to come. Yes, weddings are always exciting, but for Jenna, her attention was fully focused on WHO she was marrying.

Because they have known one another since high school, this day had been a long time coming. Many friends and family gathered on the green grass of one of Arizona’s most beautiful golf courses to celebrate the love of a couple extremely dedicated to making each other happy.

After seeing so many weddings over the past few years, my advice to couples getting married is simple: smile. Smile through the changes in plans, the eager overly-early guests and the little moments that aren’t flowing together perfectly. Don’t let little things get you down. Just keep celebrating and fully taking in the best day of your life. This is exactly what Jenna and Alex did. Not many things went wrong this day, but I don’t think I ever saw the smiles leave these two’s faces.

Congratulations again, Jenna & Alex. Everything about your wedding at Ocotillo was perfect from the ultimate shade of blue to your gorgeous ceremony backdrop, this wedding will certainly go down in my personal Hall of Fame.
