Sunflower Garden Engagement Session
The stars always shine a little brighter right along Galvin Parkway at night. Gabby and Pete were snuggled in close to warm each other against the cold winter air. They listened to their favorite Disney songs and watched the zoo lights flash beautiful colors against the desert landscape.
Wait, wait wait. You didn’t think I’d get straight to the proposal, did you? Let me set the stage with a little bit of backstory:
After meeting on a dating app, Gabby and Pete had a nearly inseparable start to their relationship. They got to spend a few days together, right off the bat, taking care of one another as they were sick. They realized there was something really special between them. This couple is the epitome of the word fun-loving and to simply be around them is to know a good time.
I was so lucky to meet them at the Desert Botanical Gardens for their engagement session last week. While this was a gorgeous, perfect place to get them in front of my camera, the real spark in their story took place just next door at the Phoenix Zoo. Pete had been planning his proposal for weeks. To start things off, he knew he needed a ring. He hired a ring designer and without realizing it, he drew a beautiful ring he had already seen while shopping around. He knew that was a sign – this must be the perfect ring.
On the day of the proposal, Pete was prepared. His first stop was Four Peaks Brewery because what’s a proposal if it doesn’t start with cheese sauce? This happens to be the couple’s favorite spot, so it was so fitting they started one of their most special days here.
After they fueled up, their next stop was the Phoenix Zoo for the “Magic Under The Stars” show. And if you’re wondering, the show sounds just as romantic as its title, composed of Disney songs playing as the zoo lights perform. Because of COVID restrictions, their two chairs were separated from the rest of the group and they had their own private viewing. This was perfect because Pete knew Gabby would want a more private proposal. When retelling the story, the couple set the scene for me by saying the timing was perfect – the monkeys had just finished fighting and Pete had researched the song list ahead of time. He knew exactly when he was going to propose as he waited for that very special song to start. And then it did. “Tale as old as time…” He leaned over, pulled her in close, showed her the ring, and asked if she would marry him. Of course, she said yes and Pete recalled he could see the stars in her eyes.
Gabby and Pete, I can’t believe what a joy it is simply to be around you. With excitement all around you, I know this wedding is going to be one for the books. The countdown is on to see the two of you become husband and wife. I can’t wait!
