A Traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony and a Modern Wedding
Liz and Calvin’s wedding day was nothing short of magical. The couple started their day with a beautiful Chinese tea ceremony to honor their relatives at their home in Tempe. The traditional ceremony was a perfect way to start the day, bringing a sense of cultural significance to the wedding.
After the tea ceremony, Liz and Calvin headed to their venue, The Venue on Washington, for their first look and the rest of the wedding. Calvin’s first word when he saw Liz was “Woooowww”, which got them giggling uncontrollably. Their love and excitement for each other were evident and contagious.
The theme of the wedding was “East Meets West,” which the couple perfectly embodied. In their own words, they wanted to go for a fresh classic wedding with Chinese undertones, and that’s exactly what they achieved. They incorporated the lucky colors of red and gold into their wedding, which added a beautiful touch of tradition to their modern wedding. Liz’s something blue was a pair of blue Jimmy Choos, which she wore with pride throughout the day.
After the ceremony, guests were greeted by a boba tea bar, which was a shared escape for the couple throughout the pandemic. Boba is a drink they both love and having it at their wedding was a perfect way to share their love for the drink with their guests.
The couple’s portraits were full of fun, showcasing their love for each other and the beautiful surroundings of their downtown venue.
After their first dance, Liz surprised guests by changing into her mother’s red wedding dress as her something old. She then danced with her dad in the dress and recreated a wedding photo from her parent’s wedding. It was a beautiful and touching gesture that left everyone in awe.
The rest of the night was filled with dancing and laughter as Liz and Calvin celebrated their love with their friends and family. Their wedding day was a perfect blend of tradition and modernity, East and West. It was a beautiful celebration of love, family, and culture.
