A Spring Blush and Begonia Wedding
Rarely has there been a wedding as personalized as Nicole and Martin’s was to them. Each element was so thoughtfully planned to completely represent them. From the venue they chose right down to their signature cocktails, everything was perfectly personalized.
Because Nicole and Martin met through a book exchange (click here to read about it), they decided to incorporate a subtle nod to books throughout the day. This included a guest book exchange, books as centerpieces on each of the tables, bookmark wedding favors, and heart confetti made from pages of books. Nicole’s brother even did a reading during the ceremony from one of their favorite books, A Man Called Ove.
Nicole walked down the aisle to “Our House”, a significant song to their story. Nicole had wanted Martin to sing at their wedding, but he’d said no. Little did she know, he was already planning a surprise for her. During his vows, he’d make her a promise, then sing her a line from a song that coordinated with the vow. He blew everyone away and I don’t think there was a dry eye at Villa Siena that day.
Villa Siena was selected as their venue because the Tuscan style made them feel at home with their Italian roots. Nicole said, “The feel of Villa Siena felt like home right away to us and as we looked at venues we compared everything to Villa Siena – that’s how we knew we had found the one!” The venue was decorated with brightly colored flowers that coordinated with the bridesmaids and the spring season – begonia and blush. Having two colors also helped to highlight Nicole’s two matrons of honor and her dearest friends.
Following the ceremony, guests sipped on the couple’s signature cocktail: Moscow Moo in honor of Nicole’s and Martin’s pup, Mia (aka Moo).
The reception began with a first dance that wowed guests. Nicole and Martin had taken dance lessons to learn not one, but two choreographed dances. When I asked them about their favorite part of wedding planning, Nicole said, “For me, I have absolutely loved getting the chance to do dance lessons with Martin. Martin and I both have backgrounds in the creative arts. He and I both act and sing and I’ve done a lot of improv as well. Getting to dance together was such an awesome way to get to do something creative together and to help us stay grounded in our relationship and with each other during all of the ups and downs of planning.” Friends and family had a great time dancing the rest of the night away with them. Finally, at the end of the night, sparks were flying as guests cheered the couple on during their sparkler exit.
Nicole and Martin, I still feel so blessed I got to share your special day with you and make two great new friends in the process. When I think of your gorgeous day, so many happy memories come to mind. Thank you again for your trust in me, I loved celebrating with you.
