A Hudson River Proposal

When you think of romance capitals, a couple of cities quickly come to mind. Of course, Paris and Venice are at the top of the list, but what about that city that never sleeps? Yes, we’re talking broadway shows, horse-drawn carriages and art museums in every direction.

Allie and Wes were traveling New York with their friends who were slightly annoyed at Wes for not popping the question the night before on the Empire State building, but he had something special in mind. Besides, that may have been a little too obvious for Allie who craved the element of surprise in a proposal.

When they had discussed getting engaged, Allie made it clear that she LOVES surprises and wanted it to be a complete mystery when Wes would propose to her – the place, the time, even the ring. It was really important to him that the ring be something she loved because she would wear it for the rest of her life, so they compromised that she would pick out a few options and he would select ‘the one’. He later joked that all three she had picked out looked nearly identical to him.

For an unsuspecting Allie, the next chapter of her life with Wes was about to begin on this day as they set sail on the Hudson River. She had no idea the man she swiped right to on Bumble a couple of years ago was about to officially become her fiancé. In a truly thoughtful and romantic gesture, Wes asked Allie to marry him and she said yes!
