A Bakersfield, California Ring Pop Proposal
I always imagined if I was going to be talking about Bakersfield, CA on this blog, it would be from photographing a wedding of someone I grew up with, but here I am, sharing the proposal of a bride who happens to be from the same small town as me, now both living in a city 500 miles away. Come on, this was meant to be!!
First, I need to share a little inspiration that Tiffany and Josh are living proof that sometimes blind dates work out way better than anyone could have ever imagined. This sweet couple was actually set up by Josh’s sister-in-law, who worked with Tiffany at SRP (this is one big SRP family – Josh also works there, in a different division). After double dating with his brother and sister-in-law for a while, Josh decided it was finally time to take Tiffany on a date to The Keg (yummm!) and it went off without a hitch.
Fast forward a couple of years to a little church in downtown Bakersfield, near the Kern County Museum. Tiffany has always adored this church and wanted to take Josh to see it. Josh had been planning on proposing to Tiffany later on their trip, but this moment felt so right, so Josh got down on one knee and asked Tiffany to be his wife. What came next might be a little surprising, but let me explain why Josh slid a ring pop on Tiffany’s finger after she said yes:
At one point when they were discussing rings, Tiffany had told him, “I don’t care if you propose with a ring pop as long as I get you”. So, Josh (the prankster that he is), tested what Tiffany had said. Later that day, he asked her if she still wanted a ring. She told him no, but came back an hour later and admitted there was one in particular she had fallen in love with when they had looked together. Josh told her that they’d start looking again when they got back to Arizona, but little did she know, that very ring was tucked safely away in his suitcase down the hall.
As the evening came, and they were getting ready to visit her grandparents, Josh told her that her outfit was missing something and finally gave her that ring she’d been dreaming of (and yes, it is a beauty)!
Tiffany and Josh, I can’t wait for your wedding in Tempe this fall! I’m brushing up on alllll of The Office quotes in preparation and can’t wait to see them bring you all the giggles again.
