Vietnamese Wedding at St. Anne’s in Gilbert, AZ

Mar 3, 2020

Ha and Cory’s wedding at St. Anne’s Church in Gilbert, Arizona was an incredible day, embellished with Vietnamese traditions that perfectly brought the duo together.

This couple is the epitome of the term “opposites attract” in the very best way. Their personalities are so different, but they’re brought together by their similar interests and balance one another out perfectly. Their shared passion for traveling the world is how they met – both majored in Global Studies at ASU. Simply mentioning some of the places they’ve been brings light to their eyes. A tip from these two experts: you can’t go wrong with Hong Kong, Venice, Costa Rica and Croatia. These are just a few of their favorite places, but they have many more plans to travel Asia on a mission to taste all their favorite foods.

The very first time I met Ha, we sat across from each other at a Starbucks in Tempe, just down the street from where she met Cory for the first time. We sipped our drinks and dove into all the incredible details she was planning for her wedding. About halfway through our conversation, she mentioned that she recognized my husband on my Instagram feed and we eventually figured out that they used to work together when DJ and I first moved to Arizona. What a small little world that we live in! That little connection made me even more excited about the details she was sharing with me, but no one could prepare me for how beautifully it would all come together.

On the morning of the wedding, I met her beautiful bridal party at an Airbnb right in the heart of downtown Gilbert. The house was bustling as the girls ran around getting their hair and makeup done, intermittently grabbing their coffee or clinking champagne glasses in their robes. Eventually, each one slipped into their traditional Vietnamese dresses and my jaw may have hit the floor. Both of Ha’s dresses throughout the day were custom made for her. You’d never be able to tell, but their secret power was the pants tucked perfectly underneath – a favorite feature of the bride and made lift photos nice and easy 🙂

After all the ladies were ready, we headed over to St. Anne’s where Cory saw Ha for the first time as she walked up the aisle toward him. He couldn’t hold back his amazement seeing her for the first time and kept slipping little glances her way during the ceremony. It’s true – he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. Ha and Cory deserved every ounce of beauty their ceremony brought as they officially came together as husband and wife.

The beauty continued that evening as we headed to the reception space. I don’t use the term ‘dream backyard wedding’ lightly, but between their custom popup bar/dance floor and the horses lining the drive up to the property, this space was truly the perfect place to end a fairytale day.

Congratulations again, Ha & Cory. Safe travels and enjoy your new journey as husband and wife in Boston!
