5 sincere Valentine’s gift ideas for your Fiancé

Feb 12, 2018

Leave the chocolates and cards behind this year and give a gift that really comes from your heart. Your significant other will really notice the effort and thought that was put into their gift, especially when it has a personal touch. So, without further ado, I’ll introduce some of my favorite gifts my husband and I have given throughout the years.

1. Scratch off “lottery ticket”- This is a unique twist on the good old-fashioned coupon book. It’s so fun and has so many ways you can customize it and be creative. I have done a couple variations including ‘Scratch off 1/day this week to see what I love about you’ as well as a Valentine’s Day scratcher the one you scratch is the one you get. Examples could be ‘dinner and a movie of your choice’ or ‘let’s make dessert together’. It can be fun, funny, sexy, the best part is you can make it whatever you want (just be sure to clarify that it’s no longer valid if more than 1 is scratched off or you might be responsible for all of them, haha)! Here is a link to the tutorial I used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSA7W_rC4Vs.

I have to be honest with you guys, I tried to make some to photograph as an example and my hearts were less than pretty and you could see the pen I used through the paint. I would recommend using a pencil and silver paint.

2. Adventure/memory album- There are so many great places out there with templates that allow you to easily create an album or book for your loved one. This is a gift that my husband and I have given each other at different times. Since we lived in Hawaii, it felt like every photo we took was out of a postcard, and we wanted to document all these special memories tougher in an album that we’re able to flip through and remember our experiences. If you’re engaged, make your S.O. an album of your engagement photos!

3. Open when letters- I made DJ open when letters right before we got engaged. This may be the most effort I put into a gift, but also the most rewarding. HE LOVED THEM. I put a lot of thought and emotion into my letters to him. When he opened them, he could feel this, plus he had letters to open for over a year so it keeps on giving! Every one doesn’t have to be a huge long letter, you can include quotes, photos, jokes… really anything. To give you some ideas for categories, here are the ones I made:

Open when… you get these letters
Open when… you miss me
Open when… you have the ring
Open when… you need confidence
Open when… you’re feeling down
Open when… you need to make a big decision
Open when… you’re mad at me
Open when… I’m mad at you
Open when… you need to take a trip down memory lane
Open when… it’s your 25th birthday
Open when… it’s your graduation day
Open when… you propose
Open… the night before our wedding

4. Photo memory box- A similar idea to an album, but it’s definitely a unique gift. I bought a little wooden square box from Michaels, covered it in heart paper and cut photos to a square to fit exactly inside. On the back of each photo, I wrote my memories from that picture, the day, or the experience. It is like a little journal that you will be able to look back on and remember how you felt.

5. OR MY PERSONAL FAVORITE- Guys, gift your girls a photoshoot. Those images are a gift that lasts a lifetime. Every time she sees them, she’ll think of you and the amazing experience you had together taking them. (Just an extra hint, GO WILLINGLY & IN A GOOD MOOD). This is a gift she genuinely wants!! It doesn’t take too much effort on your part, just find a photographer that you love their look and is easy to work with OR tell your fiancé what you want to give her and look for a photographer together. This is definitely a lasting experience.
