A Panamanian Wedding Celebration

Jul 9, 2019

Shortly after dinner, the lights in the reception space dimmed and music began playing loudly as loud sirens sounded, and guests were drawn to their feet. Chelsea had a surprise in store for them and they were about to find out what she had been planning. As the music began getting louder, three women came bursting through the doors in vibrant rinestone-clad attire, feather boas and large headdresses reaching for the ceiling. This marked the beginning of La Hora Loca, a South American tradition.

Chelsea’s mom is from Panama and wanted to bring a little Panamanian flavor to the reception with her favorite tradition. The guests eagerly got into the spirit and the dance floor quickly filled to one of the most packed I have ever seen. As masks and glow sticks were spread through the crowd, the party really got started. Chelsea and her bridesmaids even had a choreographed dance with the ladies, making up one of the night’s highlights.

This couple knows how to celebrate, but they also know how to plan a wedding with detail, thought, and style. Their day at Villa Siena included an incredible team of vendors, making each element feel effortless.

Beginning with a first look that brought tears to the couple’s eyes, their wedding day was curated perfectly for them. Chelsea’s uncle performed the ceremony and family was woven into each aspect. It is clear how this duo is loved by all that know them.

Speaking of family, you would not believe the history of Chelsea’s gorgeous veil. Her great grandfather had her veil made by a blind woman over 60 years ago and it has been in the family since to be worn by his grandchildren and now great-grandchildren! Over 10 brides have included this veil in their wedding day ensemble, including Chelsea’s mother. What a special tradition that I hope lives on for many generations.

Chelsea and Ryan, congratulations on your big day. It was so special to see you surrounded by tons of friends and family that just adore you both. Thank you a million times over for including me in the happiest day of your lives, it definitely was one of the most exciting days in mine!
